\"\"The County Government of Siaya, through its Directorate of Human Resource Management, in collaboration with CIC Group Insurance and the County Pension Fund (CPF), conducted a training session today for newly recruited staff in the Department of Governance, Administration, and ICT.<\/p>\n

The training aimed to equip new employees with essential knowledge on financial planning, investment, and retirement benefits. Topics covered included, payslip management, investment options, education policies, money market funds, and other investment opportunities.<\/p>\n

Mr. Vincent Oduor, Agency Manager for Nyanza and Western Region, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the CIC scheme, highlighting its tailored retirement, investment, and educational plans to secure employees\u2019 financial futures. \u201cCIC\u2019s income drawdown option allows members to access retirement benefits as regular income through a managed investment fund,\u201d Oduor explained. He also discussed the educational scheme, which supports staff in funding their children\u2019s education, promoting long-term family stability.<\/p>\n

Madam Winnie Abonyo, CPF Siaya County Coordinator, outlined the benefits of joining CPF pension schemes, noting their alignment with national pension frameworks and commitment to timely, efficient payments for a dignified post-service life. She emphasized that CPF\u2019s prudent investment strategies maximize returns while safeguarding members\u2019 savings.<\/p>\n

\"\"According to Madam Susan Raba, Director of Human Resource Management, the training was designed to help new staff understand the organizational structure, policies, and regulations to perform their duties effectively. She highlighted that the induction process fosters an understanding of national values, governance principles, and integrity during service.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany newly hired employees enter public service with limited knowledge of personal finance management due to minimal coverage in school curricula,\u201d Madam Raba noted. \u201cIt is the employer\u2019s responsibility to ensure new staff learn to manage their finances effectively,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The Director also announced plans to extend this training to new staff across the remaining nine departments adding that such trainings will always be conducted from time to time to all staffs.<\/p>\n

The event was graced by Hon. Walter Okelo, Chief Officer for Governance, Administration, and ICT, who commended the HR team for coordinating with CIC Group and CPF. He emphasized the training\u2019s role in fostering financial progression and professional growth, urging new staff to remain diligent and seize the opportunities provided by these schemes.<\/p>\n
