\"\"The newly inaugurated, state-of-the-art Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium today hosted regional soccer tournaments, featuring junior secondary school teams from Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Nyamira, and Kisii counties.<\/p>\n

The two-day tournament featured exciting matches, with the host Siaya team drawing 1-1 against Homa Bay. Kisumu dominated Nyamira, winning 7-1, while Kisii faced Homa Bay in another match. A total of six games were played, with the games expected to continue tomorrow. The event sets the stage for the National Soccer Tournament in Kakamega County in August 2025, where Nyanza region representatives will compete.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the County\u2019s Directorate of Public Communications on the sidelines of the event, Chief Officer in charge of Tourism, Sports, Culture and Arts Mrs. Judith Oyugi welcomed all the participants and affirmed the County Government\u2019s commitment to supporting sports, talent development, and cultural interactions among youth. She highlighted the Nyalore administration\u2019s efforts to establish facilities across the county to nurture young talent and promote livelihoods through informal employment in sports.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Oyugi also noted that Governor Orengo has spearheaded initiatives to provide sports equipment, including balls, uniform kits, and refreshments like soft drinks, to junior schools during sports days.<\/p>\n

This includes providing playing fields, establishing training academies, and developing infrastructure to strengthen cultural and sporting activities within and beyond the county.<\/p>\n

Notable top county officials present at the event included CECM for Tourism, Sports, Culture and Arts Madam Angeline Oduor, Director of Public Communications, Civic Education, and Petitions Mr. Chrispine Omondi, Director of Sports Dr. Sanmac Okoth, KFF officials led by Nyanza Region Chairman Mr. Collins Kalee, and regional soccer leaders led by Mr. Tobias Ouma (Chairman).<\/p>\n

Sports and cultural development are key pillars of Governor Orengo\u2019s blueprint, embedded in the County Integrated Development Plans and the Nyalore Manifesto\u2019s 9-Point Agenda on Youth Empowerment.
