This was confirmed during a delegates\u2019 meeting held at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium, where representatives from 35 participating counties gathered to finalize preparations.<\/p>\n

A total of 40 counties have since confirmed their attendance for the annual event. The event is approximated to attract many participants according to Siaya county chief officer for tourism, culture, sports & Arts Judith Oyugi.<\/p>\n

\"\"Speaking at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga stadium during the Kicosca meeting edition, Chief Officer for Tourism, Culture, Sports, and Arts in Siaya, Judith Oyugi, exuded confidence that Siaya is well prepared to host the 12th edition Kicosca games extending a warm welcome to all participating counties.
\nOyugi said staff from the 12 counties have not participated in the event since the advent of devolution and expressed optimism they would be a part of the games in the future, citing the role games play in helping employees boost their mental health, network and learn from one another regardless of their political and religious affiliations.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Paul Oluga, Chairman of the County Officers in Charge of Culture and Sports (COCAs), expressed confidence in Siaya County as the host. \"We are here today to confirm that this year's KICOSCA will be unique because 40 counties will be participating,\" he stated, adding that Siaya has the potential to accommodate the expected influx of visitors.<\/p>\n

John Ang'awa, the Interim National Chairperson, assured delegates of Siaya's readiness. He confirmed that all venues meet KICOSCA's guidelines, being located within a 10km radius and of standard quality, suitable for national and regional events. \"What remains is to put the final touches,\" he said.
\nAng'awa noted that teams have been preparing through friendly matches since the last edition in Kakamega, highlighting a vast range of disciplines: golf, handball, chess, scrabble, football, volleyball, basketball, netball, athletics, with squash being the only exception.<\/p>\n

Pool, darts, badminton, table tennis, cultural dance, choir and ajua are also part of the displines in the games set to be held in various venues in Siaya County.<\/p>\n

He praised Siaya's sporting prowess, citing its historical excellence in scrabble, chess and handball.
\nKicosca was founded in 2013 at the onset of Devolution to showcase counties sporting talents and celebrate their cultural heritage. Originally known as the Kenya Inter-Municipalities Sports and Cultural Association (KIMSCA).<\/p>\n

Since its inception Nairobi, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Kiambu, Machakos, Kisii, Kericho, Embu, Kisumu,Meru and Kakamega have hosted the games..
