\"\"The County Government of Siaya today under department of Health and sanitation hosted senior leadership from the National Malaria Control Program, Dr. Kibor K. Keitany, Head of the National Malaria Control Program, (NMCP) and the Division of County Health in a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening partnerships to combat malaria and improve public health outcomes.<\/p>\n

On behalf of Governor James Orengo, the engagement was led by the County Executive Committee Member for Health and Sanitation Dr. Martin K\u2019Onyango who appreciated there visit and welcomed Dr. Kibor and the team. The visit reaffirmed the strong collaboration between the County Government of Siaya, the National Government, and international partners, including the United States Government, in advancing malaria prevention and strengthening health service delivery in malaria-endemic areas.<\/p>\n

\"\"Dr. K\u2019Onyango commended the continued support from the National Government and partners, noting that joint initiatives have contributed significantly to improved malaria prevention, surveillance, and control within the county. He further reaffirmed the county\u2019s commitment to sustained collaboration to ensure evidence-based and data-driven health interventions.<\/p>\n

Partners, including Impact Research and Development Organization\u2014represented by Redemta Odeny\u2014outlined ongoing and planned collaborative programs with Siaya County.
\nAmong the key interventions discussed was the implementation of Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS). The (IRS) training has been ongoing awaiting campaigns in February 2026, a proven malaria prevention strategy targeting high-risk communities.<\/p>\n

The engagement also aligned with the rollout of an Artificial Intelligence\u2013supported febrile surveillance research initiative integrated into the electronic Community Health Information System (eCHIS). The initiative is expected to strengthen early detection, reporting, and response to febrile illnesses, including malaria, across the county. The County Government of Siaya reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships, embracing innovation, and advancing evidence-based interventions to safeguard the health and well-being of its residents as it works toward a malaria-free future.<\/p>\n
