{"id":29313,"date":"2026-03-19T07:28:13","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T04:28:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/siaya.go.ke\/siaya\/?p=29313"},"modified":"2026-03-19T15:49:23","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T12:49:23","slug":"siaya-county-strengthens-fight-against-postpartum-haemorrhage-using-bundle-pack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/siaya.go.ke\/siaya\/siaya-county-strengthens-fight-against-postpartum-haemorrhage-using-bundle-pack\/","title":{"rendered":"Siaya County Strengthens Fight Against Postpartum Haemorrhage Using Bundle pack."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Sharon Onyango<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-29314\" src=\"https:\/\/siaya.go.ke\/siaya\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/33d6ef55-dd73-4431-a97d-f206fdf3f5d0.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"962\" height=\"1056\" srcset=\"https:\/\/siaya.go.ke\/siaya\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/33d6ef55-dd73-4431-a97d-f206fdf3f5d0.jpeg 1166w, https:\/\/siaya.go.ke\/siaya\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/33d6ef55-dd73-4431-a97d-f206fdf3f5d0-768x843.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 962px) 100vw, 962px\" \/>The County Government of Siaya has taken a significant step in addressing postpartum haemorrhage (PPH), a leading cause of maternal deaths worldwide by adoption Non-pneumatic Anti-Shock Garment (NASG) for women with hemorrhagic shock.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/kmet.co.ke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kisumu Medical and Education Trust (KMET Kenya)<\/a>, the county is implementing the Uzazi Salama Project, a program focused on improving maternal health outcomes by equipping healthcare workers with essential skills to handle mothers using bundle pack in case of a PPH.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Last week health providers from high volume facilities were trained as County Mentors on PPH management using bundle pack by a team of experts from KMET, a training that they had conducted in 5 other counties in Kenya, Samburu, Kisumu, Marsabit,Bungoma,Kisii and Finally Siaya County.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Following the training last week, Today the mentors met in a company of Sub County RH Coordinators for a feedback session and for assimilation just to ensure they go train the right way as they were taught.<br \/>\nSiaya had a total of 18 facicilities across the County , 6 hubs from the 6 sub Counties and 12 spoke facilities with each hub attached to 2 spoke facilities.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-29315\" src=\"https:\/\/siaya.go.ke\/siaya\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17c9ab28-9475-4fed-bbde-1b8f9a6a6c18.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"806\" srcset=\"https:\/\/siaya.go.ke\/siaya\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17c9ab28-9475-4fed-bbde-1b8f9a6a6c18.jpeg 1280w, https:\/\/siaya.go.ke\/siaya\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17c9ab28-9475-4fed-bbde-1b8f9a6a6c18-768x484.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/>Pamela Josephine, the County Reproductive Health Coordinator, emphasized the importance of safe, efficient, and proper use and care of the NASG. She noted that the device has the potential to significantly reduce maternal deaths if used correctly and consistently across health facilities.Through partnering with KMET, Siaya is now among the first counties adopting this lifesaving innovation.<\/p>\n<p>The introduction of NASG is expected to greatly improve emergency response for mothers experiencing PPH, particularly in remote or resource-limited settings where delays in accessing advanced care often prove fatal.
