\"\"In a landmark move for the residents of Ugenya Sub-county, Governor James Orengo today officially commissioned a Ksh 19.5 million water supply project.<\/p>\n

This initiative, under the \"Nyalore\" administration, aims to provide a sustainable solution to the long-standing water challenges in Mauna and Hafumbre, West Ugenya.<\/p>\n

The Governor hosted a courtesy call from the Water Sector Trust Fund (WSTF) and the SIBO Water and Sanitation Company to solidify a partnership that emphasizes water as a fundamental human right, as enshrined in the 2010 Constitution.<\/p>\n

\"\"The project is designed to deliver an additional 108 cubic meters of water capacity through a 108km steel pipeline network. The scope of work includes:
\n* Construction of a steel elevated water tank with a capacity of 1.8 million liters
\n* Construction of two water kiosks at Obet Market and Hafumbre Primary School, including a water standpipe at Rising Star Academy.
\n* Installation of a 6.9 km pipeline from Mauna Dam to Rising Star Academy.<\/p>\n

According to data from the 2009 census and 2022 IEBC figures, the project is set to benefit a population of approximately 30,325 residents, ensuring they have access to affordable and clean water directly at their doorsteps.<\/p>\n

The project's financing showcases a robust collaborative effort between the County Government and Development partners:
\n*County Government Contribution:KES 3.1 Million
\n*Development Partners (WSTF, Ministry of Water, and German Development Bank):KES 16.5 Million<\/p>\n

The CEO of the Water Sector Trust Fund, Willis Ombai , expressed optimism that the project would fully meet the area's supply needs. Supporting this vision, SIBO Water CEO Adipo Isaiah reaffirmed the company\u2019s commitment to maintaining the infrastructure and ensuring consistent, efficient water provision across Siaya County.<\/p>\n
