\"\"Governor James Orengo\u2019s administration is fundamentally restructuring the county\u2019s vocational education system, moving to consolidate 31 decentralized training centers into a unified economic powerhouse.<\/p>\n

This transformation will culminate in a massive, first-of-its-kind \"model\" graduation ceremony designed to showcase technical skills as the primary engine for youth empowerment and inclusive growth across every ward in Siaya.<\/p>\n

Under the leadership of Chief Officer Richard Ogeda and the Department of Education and Youth Affairs, the county is shifting vocational training away from the fringes of academia and into the center of its development agenda. The administration is repositioning Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) as high-value institutions capable of producing market-ready graduates who can immediately fill gaps in the local and national labor markets.<\/p>\n

To solidify this new direction, managers from all 31 institutions, including prominent centers such as Bondo Vocational Training Centre, Rarieda Vocational Training Centre (Mahaya), Alego Ngiya Vocational Training Centre, Gem Ndere Vocational Training Centre, Ugenya Sega Vocational Training Centre, Ugunja Vocational Training Centre, and Ugenya Vocational Training Centre are set to convene for a strategic coordination summit.<\/p>\n

This meeting aims harmonizing operations across the sub-counties, ensuring that governance and training standards are consistent regardless of geography. The objective is to create a singular, high-quality brand for Siaya vocational education that commands respect from industrial employers.<\/p>\n

A critical component of this strategy involves a double-pronged approach to growth: increasing youth enrolment into these training centres through aggressive community outreach and securing industry partnerships. Led by Mr. Ogeda, Director Stephen Opiyo, and Deputy Director Dorothy Otieno, the department is actively building bridges with the private sector to facilitate internships, apprenticeships, and direct employment pathways for students.<\/p>\n
