Targeting conditions such as cerebral palsy, clubfoot, and delayed milestones, the program brings life-changing medical interventions directly to sub-county hospitals like Urenga, ensuring that families who cannot afford the journey to Siaya County Referral Hospital are no longer left behind. Parents & caregivers are urged to stop hiding affected children at home and instead embrace these grassroots services to secure their children's future.<\/p>\n

The urgency of these clinics is underscored by a severe staffing shortage, with Occupational Therapist Joanne Kwamboka noting that only three specialists currently serve the entire county. This lean team travels to rural outposts to reach patients who would otherwise remain untreated due to the high cost of transport and the complexities of navigating distant medical facilities. While the team can currently only visit these communities once a month, the impact has been profound for those lucky enough to attend.<\/p>\n

The success of the program is written in the progress of children like five-year-old Quincy John. His grandmother, Josephine Awino, recalls a time when Quincy could neither support his neck nor place his feet on the ground. After consistent therapy through the Urenga outreach, he can now grasp objects, hold his head up, and take supported steps. Similarly, Daniel Omondi from Rero Village found a lifeline for his five-month-old son; after a clubfoot diagnosis at the clinic, the infant has been fast-tracked for corrective surgery at the referral hospital, a move that likely saved the child from a lifetime of disability.<\/p>\n

Despite these triumphs, the strain on resources remains a significant hurdle.
