The Department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development, led by the Director of Housing and Urban Development, Mr. George Obare, officially handed over the project site for the construction of the Resident Committee (RC) Office, marking the commencement of the much-anticipated development.<\/p>\n

The site handover was presided over by Mr. Kenneth Nyaseda, the Kenya Informal Settlement Redevelopment Programme (KISRP) Coordinator, together with Mr. Andrew Muge, an architect from the State Department of Physical Planning and Urban Development. During the event, the construction works were formally handed over to Benare Construction Company Limited.<\/p>\n

Mr. Nyaseda underscored the importance of delivering a high-quality project and directed that the approved building design be shared with the project engineer to guide implementation. He instructed the contractor to commence construction immediately and ensure the works progress efficiently to meet the agreed timelines.<\/p>\n

\"\"Speaking during the exercise, the Director of Physical Planning, Mr. Maurice Ochieng, confirmed that the project boundaries had been identified. He noted that, besides providing office space for the Resident Committee, the facility will also create an opportunity to accommodate other government administrative offices in the future, thereby enhancing service delivery.<\/p>\n

The County Survey team, led by Director of Lands and Survey, Mr. Vincent Oluoch, presented an overview of the site layout and was directed to place beacons to secure the project area. The approved design comprises a 10-metre by 8-metre rectangular building with two offices and a boardroom. The facility will also include separate washrooms for ladies, gentlemen, and persons with disabilities, supported by a biodigester sanitation system.<\/p>\n

Other proposed project components include a perimeter fence with a gate, a latrine, concrete posts with chain-link fencing, electricity connection, and complete office furniture. Any approvals required during implementation will be facilitated to ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and proper documentation throughout the project.<\/p>\n

The contractor was directed to commence construction immediately, with completion targeted for 10th August and commissioning expected on 14th August.<\/p>\n

\"\"Speaking on behalf of the community, the Chairperson of the Resident Committee expressed gratitude to the County Government and all stakeholders for their commitment to the project. The Chairperson described the initiative as a significant milestone that will strengthen local governance, promote community participation, and improve service delivery to residents.<\/p>\n

The County Government reaffirmed its commitment to closely monitor the project to ensure quality workmanship, adherence to approved specifications, and timely completion.
