Health stakeholders, implementing partners and civil society organisations have called for strengthened collaboration to address the \u201cTriple Threat\u201d of new HIV infections, adolescent pregnancies and gender-based violence (GBV) in Siaya County.<\/p>\n

The call was made during a Triple Threat review meeting held in partnership with the County Department of Health and Sanitation, KMET, Tiko, Lwala Community to assess progress, identify gaps and strengthen interventions aimed at protecting adolescents and young people from the three interconnected challenges.<\/p>\n

\"\"Data presented during the meeting showed that Siaya currently has an HIV burden of 96,439 cases. Of the 736 new HIV infections recorded in 2025\u20132026, 47 per cent were among adolescents aged 10\u201319 years, highlighting the vulnerability of young people to HIV infection.<\/p>\n

Ugenya Sub-County, previously among the areas recording high teenage pregnancy rates, has recorded notable improvement following targeted interventions by KMET, including intergenerational dialogues, psychosocial support and community advocacy.<\/p>\n

Participants called for stronger integration of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) programmes into school and community health initiatives, alongside increased use of technology platforms such as Tiko to improve real-time tracking, service uptake and accountability.<\/p>\n

As part of the action plan developed following the review, stakeholders agreed to strengthen collaboration between county government teams, chiefs, non-governmental organisations and other community actors to ensure comprehensive interventions across all sub-counties.<\/p>\n

The action plan also prioritises greater involvement of parents, fathers, male guardians and young men in addressing cultural stigmas, power dynamics and barriers to open discussions on reproductive health.<\/p>\n

Stakeholders further committed to aligning interventions with the Siaya RMNCAH Act 2024 and the Siaya AYP Action Plan 2025\u20132028 to sustain investment in adolescent-friendly health services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
