County Government of Siaya Signs MoU with SHOFCO to Enhance Community Development

The County Government of Siaya, led by Governor James Orengo, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO) to collaborate on areas of mutual interest.

The MoU will enable Siaya County to benefit in key sectors, including agriculture, water, education, youth empowerment, and gender affairs. The signing ceremony, held in Nairobi and graced by SHOFCO Founder Dr. Kennedy Odede, outlined immediate benefits, including the construction of a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Center in Madiany, West Uyoma Ward, at a cost of Ksh. 25 million. Additional benefits include full scholarships for teenage mothers to return to school, comprehensive scholarships targeting 10,000 beneficiaries across the county, and boreholes to be drilled in selected sub-counties.

The Collaboration Agreement sets the terms and understanding between the County Government of Siaya and SHOFCO and further sets out the channels for communication and collaboration in various activities in order to ensure closer consultations, effective and efficient coordination and cooperation between the County Government of Siaya and SHOFCO.

SHOFCO has been a steadfast partner to the people of Siaya, supporting initiatives such as water pan construction and economic empowerment programs. The MoU strengthens this partnership, promising to deliver vital services closer to the community.

Governor James Orengo was joined by County Secretary Mr. Joseph Ogutu, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education Dr. Edgar Otumba, and other county officials during the event.
