The Department of Land, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development is responsible for the sustainable management and utilization of land resources, orderly spatial development, and promotion of decent housing within the county.
The department oversees land administration, surveying, mapping, and titling to ensure secure land tenure and equitable access. It guides physical and spatial planning processes to support well-structured urban and rural development in line with the County Spatial Plan and other policy frameworks.
In addition, the department promotes affordable and sustainable housing initiatives, supervises building standards, and coordinates urban development programs aimed at improving infrastructure, sanitation, and the overall living environment in towns and emerging urban centres.
Through effective policy implementation and stakeholder collaboration, the department seeks to create well-planned, livable, and resilient communities that support economic growth and environmental sustainability.
