Siaya County youths have received a significant boost through a new empowerment program launched by the Chief Officer for Gender, Youth Affairs, and Social Services, Mrs. Judith Oyugi.
The five-day training dubbed “Jitume, Jijitambulishe, Jiajiri,” aims to equip over 100 young people from South East Alego Ward with essential skills, including personal development, digital literacy, content creation, and mentorship for long-term growth.
Participants will be connected with experienced mentors to ensure the sustainability of their ventures. Mrs. Oyugi emphasized the importance of youth exploring opportunities offered by national and county government programs.
She expressed concern about the trend of young people engaging in counterproductive political activities, urging them to channel their energy into constructive pathways instead. She extended heartfelt gratitude to stakeholders supporting the program, including Globcom, Siaya Muungano Network, and other NGOs championing youth-led initiatives in the region.
This initiative represents a vital step toward nurturing a generation prepared to lead, innovate, and uplift their communities.
