FREE Cervical Cancer and Obstetric Fistula Screening and Treatment in Siaya County

FREE Cervical Cancer and Obstetric Fistula Screening and Treatment in Siaya County

Residents of Siaya County are set to benefit from a free cervical cancer and obstetric fistula screening and treatment campaign.

Gynocare Women’s & Fistula Hospital, in collaboration with the County Government of Siaya through the Department of Health, is set to conduct the groundbreaking health initiative. Scheduled for March 12th, 13th, and 14th, 2025, this campaign offers a vital opportunity for women across the region to prioritize their health and access quality care.

Gynocare has committed to treating all positive cases following the screenings, and a climax of this initiative is that after screening, patients will be booked and repairs done at no cost, providing a comprehensive and compassionate approach to tackling these often debilitating conditions.

The screenings will cover multiple locations, including Alego Usonga, Gem, Bondo, Ugenya, Ugunja, and Rarieda sub-counties, with specific sites such as Rwambwa, Kaluo, Mur Malanga, Ramula, Malanga, Wagai, Uyawi, Usigu, Bondo, Madiany, Ong'ielo, Manyuanda, Ambira, Sigomere, Ligega A, Sifuyo, Bar Achuth, and Jera ensuring widespread accessibility.

This initiative aligns with Governor James Orengo’s Nyalore Agenda, which emphasizes affordable and quality healthcare for all residents, marking a significant step toward improving women’s health outcomes in the region.

The campaign schedule is designed to reach as many women as possible, with screenings running from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day.

On March 12th, Alego Usonga and Gem will host the first sessions, followed by Bondo and Rarieda on March 13th, and Ugenya-Ugunja on March 14th.

This is another opportunity to show that you deserve better health—be miles ahead of others by grabbing this chance to be screened. Obstetric fistula, a condition often resulting from prolonged labor, and cervical cancer, a leading cause of mortality among women, are the focus of this initiative, reflecting a proactive effort to restore dignity, hope, and a brighter future for young girls and women.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this free service, which not only addresses immediate health concerns but also aligns with broader goals to end cervical cancer. #YourHealthOurPriority #EndCervicalCancer are the rallying calls for this campaign, urging women to act swiftly and prioritize their well-being. With the support of local leadership and healthcare providers, Siaya County is poised to set a benchmark for accessible healthcare, offering a lifeline to those in need and fostering a healthier community for generations to come.

The hospital’s main facility is located on Uganda Road, Kahoya (Mti Moja), Opposit Kenya Pipeline, Eldoret, with additional support available at their town hospital off Iten Road, AP Line, and ensuring easy access for follow-up care or treatment. The collaboration with the Siaya County Department of Health underscores a shared commitment to public health, with the campaign backed by the Social Health Authority’s accreditation.
