The County Government of Siaya together with Kenya Devolution Support Programe 11, multi agency team consisting of Commission of Administration of Justice ( CAJ), SDD, SRIM unit KSG and CoG who were conducting baseline study accross all the 47 Counties to assess the effectiveness and identify gaps of the existing social safeguards and grievance redress mechanism in the counties.
They engaged the County Government of Siaya and the County Assembly, civil society and citizens to gather insights for improving service delivery and establishing an integrated county complaint system.
The feedback is used to address and find lasting solutions to the ills coming from such grievances so as to help in putting the mechanism of dealing with future occurrences in the county government.
The Nyalore administration has put the County Gender Technical Working Committee headed by CECM, Education, Youth, Gender Affairs and Social Services and Gender Dr. Edgar Otumba which sits once a month.
Additionally, the administration through public participations sectoral activities are normally headed by a department under the Director of Public Participation Mr. Jared Abayo and team.
In the meeting convened under the leadership of Director of Disaster Management Mr. Francis Aola, the KDSP 11 seeks to find if and how the county government apparatus has established grievances dealing mechanisms and how the feedback looks like so as to find ways of long term solutions.
The meeting that happened at Siaya county offices was spearheaded by Legal Director CAJ Madam Florence Mumbi and graced by Director of Public participation Mr. Jared Abayo among other county officials.
The County Government of Siaya, through the Department of Tourism, Culture, Sports and Arts in collaboration with the Executive Office of the Governor, will roll out The Nyalore Governors Cup for football men. This will be a Countywide tournament for talents identification, talent exposure and creation of temporary job opportunities for the Youth – “Kandanda Mashinani, Pesa kwa Vijana!”. The tournament shall be played on weekdays for one month, the whole of December 2023. The one month long tournament will be launched by the Governor Siaya, James Orengo on 1st December 2023 at Sega Mixed Primary School starting at 9.00am. The final match will be played on 1st January, 2024, at the Migwena Sports Group.
