Governor James Orengo today oversaw the groundbreaking for an inpatient complex at Urenga Health Centre and Bar Ndege Health Centre in East Ugenya Ward. The facility, a two-storey structure with ground, first, and second floors, will provide quality healthcare services, including preventive, curative, and palliative care, upon completion.
The modern complex will feature key amenities such as a sluice room, female changing room, isolation cubes, a disability-accessible verandah with a ramp, male ward, store, recovery room, scrubbing area, theatre, receiving areas, lobby, control room, x-ray, ultrasound, meeting rooms, reception, and a rooftop for security purposes. It will also include ample storage and a spacious administration office.
Through this project, Governor Orengo’s Nyalore Administration aims to fulfill the healthcare objectives outlined in the Governor’s Nyalore Manifesto, aligning with the County Integrated Development Plans to ensure universal healthcare access. The initiative reflects Orengo’s commitment to equitable development across Siaya’s six sub-counties. “I hope this facility will mark a significant milestone in inpatient care, admissions, and curative services for the residents of Bar Ndege, Urenga, and Siaya County as a whole,” said Governor Orengo, a staunch advocate for devolution and equity. He also committed to hiring additional healthcare workers to enhance operations.
