Bondo Residents Applaud Completed Projects as Development Takes Shape

Bondo Town residents have extended their gratitude after several major projects were implemented to improve market access, healthcare, and infrastructure.

Some of the projects integrated into people's daily lives include the construction of the Bondo Bus Park, the murraming of the Obama Market–Sinapanga Road, the upgrading of Bondo Market, and the delivery of medical supplies to Bondo Sub-County Hospital.

With the complete murraming of the Obama Market–Sinapanga Road, traders and transporters can move more easily. Transport has become reliable, according to Mr.  Johanes Japolo, a boda boda rider who uses the route. Previously, during the rainy season, the road was nearly impassable. "Business is growing, and we now move freely," said Johanes.

Another significant improvement to the town's public transport is the Bondo Bus Park. The project done by Bondo Municipality and the County Government of Siaya embodies a transformative vision aligned with Governor James Orengo’s 9-Point Agenda, which gears towards sustainable development and economic empowerment for the public. With well-organized sections, the park will accommodate municipal and county offices, stores and washrooms to guarantee comfortability of travelers and safety of their luggage. The new bus park will facilitate the transport sector, ensure proper town planning, and give spaces for traders in the park.  The beautification of Bondo Square and installation of a high mast at the bus park has also enhanced long time operations for the businesses at the same time making the town look smart and attractive for improved business opportunities hence increased sales volume while also boosting security for the small-scale traders and jua kali artisans in the area.

The residents are positive that the park will change the entire face of Bondo town, expressing their excitement about the projects by the municipality. Mr. Abor Otieno, a trader in Bondo town, praised how the project made the town center accessible and well-organized. "The bus park has had a huge impact. Now, clients can access services without traffic, and movement has become much simpler," he said. He further commended the overall pace of development in Bondo, stating that the county government has addressed the people's needs.

Traders at Bondo Market have commended the county for its assistance in setting up need storage facilities and proper drainage systems. "We appreciate the improvements here under the tenure of Gov. James Orengo are hopefully that more projects will be coming up in the upcoming Financial Year,” said fish vendor Mr. Francis Onyango.

In the health sector, renewed supplies of essential pharmaceuticals were recently delivered to Bondo Sub-County Hospital. An elated local resident, Mr. Festus Ocholla, said, "The medication supply has been steady and reliable. We no longer have to buy everything from private chemists.”

With its focus on people-centered development, the Nyalore government led by Gov. Orengo has been instrumental in transforming Bondo town including its conferment to a municipality status in January 2023.
