Green Heroes Unveils a Website to Empowers Farmers with Market Access and Climate-Smart Tools

At the Pre-Devolution Conference Innovation Exhibition held yesterday at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium in Siaya Town, Mr. Maurice Owiti unveiled a transformative website;https://linkinngchain.vercel.app/  designed to empower businesses by identifying, prioritizing, and implementing digital solutions.

Developed by the Green Heroes Community-Based Organization in Central Alego Ward, Alego-Usonga Sub-County, the website aims to uplift farmers and producers across Siaya County by connecting them to markets, extension services, and financial resources. Its Climate Action section features real-time meteorological reports and a blog promoting green farming practices and sustainable techniques..

Available in English, Kiswahili, and Dholuo, the website is designed for accessibility, including for people with disabilities, and prioritizes opportunities for women, youth, and PWD-owned businesses. This aligns with the 9th Devolution Conference theme, “For the People, For Prosperity: Devolution as a Catalyst for Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice,” and its sub-theme, “Re-engineering County Governments to Accelerate Development and Close the Socio-Economic Divide.”

The website’s marketplace allows farmers to list products with images and prices, supported by verified vendor profiles to build trust. Search and filter tools simplify product discovery, while vendor dashboards track engagement and sales. Extension services provide access to guides, manuals, best practices, and connections with local agronomists and extension officers, complemented by a calendar of workshops and training sessions. Financial services offer information on credit options from microfinance institutions, banks, and SACCOs, alongside financial literacy modules and partnerships with organizations supporting local producers.

This platform supports Siaya County’s goals of improving livelihoods, promoting fairness and inclusion, enhancing service delivery and transparency, and bridging the rural-urban divide. With its vision of fostering an inclusive, transparent, and connected ecosystem, the website accelerates development and climate resilience, encapsulated in its slogan, “Linking Value Chain Actors for Prosperity and Sustainability.” This vision resonates with the conference’s focus on devolution as a driver of prosperity and social equity.

The exhibition, attended by local leaders including the Speaker of the County Assembly of Siaya, Rt. Hon. George Okode, as Chief Guest, and County Secretary Mr. Joseph Ogutu, provided a platform for innovators like Mr. Maurice Owiti to showcase innovative solutions with global potential.
