Governor James Orengo today paid tribute to ODM Leader Raila Odinga, vowing to uphold the democratic principles that Odinga consistently championed.
Orengo highlighted Raila's courageous character, recalling how, against all odds, he took an oath as the People's President in January 2018 despite threats of arrest and treason charges.
The governor also expressed gratitude to President William Ruto for honoring the former Prime Minister with a state burial and a final tribute.
Reflecting on their shared struggle for Kenya’s liberation, Orengo noted that, during their heyday, they fought tirelessly for the people, yet the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga received little recognition from authorities.
Orengo commended President Ruto for standing by Raila Odinga and granting him the honor of a state funeral, befitting a life dedicated to championing democracy.
Expressing his condolences, Orengo extended gratitude to Raila Odinga’s family and pledged to continue supporting their efforts to carry forward his legacy.
The funeral was attended by among them Former President Uhuru Kenyatta ( Kenya), Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo ( Nigeria), Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka among other dignitaries and thousands of Kenyans
