Residents from Naya and Lieta sub-locations in South Uyoma Ward have today actively participated in the ongoing public participation forums of the 2026 County Fiscal Strategy Paper. The residents presented key development priorities aimed at improving health, education, and infrastructure services within their areas.
In Naya sub-location, residents emphasized the need to enhance healthcare delivery through the fencing, staffing, and installation of a gate at Naya Health Centre. They also proposed the equipping and commissioning of Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres at Ndonyo, Mirau, Ranyala, Naza, and the sub-unit, alongside the drilling of a borehole at Naya Secondary School to improve access to clean water.
Meanwhile, residents of Lieta sub-location prioritized infrastructure and social services development, calling for the opening and grading of the Lieta–Malanga road. They further recommended the establishment of an ECD centre at Lweya Primary School and the equipping of Agok Dispensary and Lieta Health Centre to strengthen healthcare services. The submissions and recommendations from the residents were documented and will inform planning and budgeting processes, ensuring that community needs are reflected in upcoming development priorities.
By actively involving citizens in shaping fiscal and development priorities, the County Government of Siaya upholds the sovereign power of the people (Article 1), promotes inclusive decision-making, and ensures that government actions align with community aspirations for equitable and sustainable progress.
