Siaya County has received a major boost in its healthcare digitization efforts following the delivery of 885 tablets and 885 power banks from Safaricom, courtesy of the Ministry of Health (MOH). The devices were officially received this morning by the Chief Officer for Health (COH), Dr. Omondi Owino.
Dr. Owino was accompanied during the handover ceremony by the County Director of Public Health (CDPH), Mr. Ken Oruenjo, and the County Health Administrative Officer, Mrs. Pamela Awuor. The consignment marks a significant step toward enhancing digital service delivery across health facilities in the county.
The tablets and power banks will be distributed to health facilities throughout Siaya to support the rollout and implementation of Taifa Care. The devices are expected to improve real-time data capture, strengthen health information management systems, and streamline service delivery at facility level. The additional power banks will ensure uninterrupted operations, particularly in areas affected by power challenges.
Speaking during the event, Dr. Owino expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Health and Safaricom for their continued partnership and support. He noted that the equipment will significantly enhance the county’s capacity to digitize healthcare services, improve efficiency, and ultimately elevate patient care.
“This support will go a long way in strengthening our health systems. Digital tools are critical in improving data accuracy, accountability, and timely service delivery to our residents,” Dr. Owino stated.
