The Department of Water, Irrigation, Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources today ushered in new leadership after outgoing Chief Officer Mr. Michael Oliech handed over to Chief Officer Hon. Jared Abayo, Environment , Climate Change and Natural Resources and Chief Officer Hon. Judith Oyugi, Water and Irrigation.
Mr. Oliech, who previously oversaw the department, thanked directors and staff for their support and guidance during his tenure. He urged the incoming chief officers to focus on delivering results and maintaining the momentum of ongoing programmes.
Hon. Abayo, who takes charge of the Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources docket, pledged to strengthen teamwork within the department and ensure impactful service delivery.
Hon. Oyugi, the new Chief Officer for Water and Irrigation, said she would draw on her experience from previous assignments to enhance water and irrigation services in the county.
The handover ceremony was presided over by County Executive Committee Member for Water, Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources Prof Jacqueline Oduol, who emphasized the need for effective information flow and collaboration to improve service delivery.
The event was attended by Director of Water and Irrigation Mr. Henry Juma and Chief Administrative Officer Mr. David Omulo.
