Siaya’s Chief Officer Nominees Face the Assembly

Pursuant to section 45( I) of the County Government Act 2017 and the Siaya County Assembly Standing order 200 (5) ( f) The County Government of Siaya nominee for Chief Officer Governance and Administration Hon. Walter Okelo Ochieng' appeared for vetting as required by the Constitution at the Siaya County Assembly Committee on Governance and Administration under Chairman Hon. Vincent Odawa.

Additionally Mr. Nyagudi Wilfred Ouma, the current Public Service Board CEO and nominee for Chief officer at the Department of Tourism Culture, Sports and Arts and Jared Abayo,the current Director for Public Participation appeared for the position of Chief officer for Department of Environment Climate Change and Natural resources respectively.

Other nominees who appeared for vetting, at the Committees included Onyango Maurine Owuor, for the position of Chief Officer in the Department of ICT and Public Service Transformation, and Mr. Joseph Oloo for the Department of Lands Physical Planning, Urban Development at the Committee of Lands Physical planning Surveying and Housing.

The nominees, who have been suitably forwarded to various Assembly Committees, by Governor James Orengo, once approved at the vetting stage will formally be appointed into the positions, and eventually sworn into office.

The officers will be mandated to help Governor James Orengo Nyalore Administration propel its development agenda and manifesto for the benefit of the people of Siaya. The nominees who possess different distinguished academic backgrounds in various fields will be key as driving force as Accounting officers for departments of Tourism, Culture, Sports and Arts, Governance Administration, Environment Climate Change, ICT, Public Service Transformation, and Lands Physical Planning and Urban Development respectively.
