The Department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development, led by the County Executive Committee Member (CECM), Mr. Augustine Neto Adhola, the Chief Officer, Hon. Joseph Mboha, together with the department's three directors, visited Bondo Municipality and Usenge Town to develop strategies aimed at improving service delivery.
During the meeting, Mr. Adhola emphasized the need for timely approval of land-related projects, including construction developments, to accelerate the growth and transformation of Bondo Municipality. He further directed that progress reports should be presented in percentages to enhance accountability and facilitate effective reporting to the Governor.
To achieve these objectives, the CECM underscored the importance of transparency in service delivery. He identified accountability, integrity, efficiency, speed, and collaboration as the key pillars that should guide the work of the municipal administration.
In his remarks, the Bondo Municipal Manager, Mr. Philip Mbidyo, acknowledged that Bondo has immense potential for growth and development, noting that with adequate support from the county government, the municipality can achieve significant progress. He also highlighted that Bondo is among the beneficiaries of the World Bank-funded programmes, which are expected to transform the face of the town through various development projects.
Addressing the challenges facing the municipality, Mr. Mbidyo cited inadequate transportation, insufficient garbage collection facilities, and ineffective revenue collection systems as some of the obstacles hindering efficient service delivery to the residents of Bondo.
Similar concerns were raised during the visit to Usenge Town, where local administrators pointed out the lack of a designated dumping site, encroachment on public land, and inadequate technical staff as major challenges affecting the town's operations.
In response, Mr. Adhola and his team assured the residents and administrators that immediate measures would be taken to address these concerns, reiterating that effective service delivery remains the county government's top priority and that the welfare of the people is at the heart of its development agenda.
