By Elizabeth Ochogo

As the KYISA Games in Laikipia reach their third day, Siaya’s youth athletes continue to showcase exceptional grit and talent. The county solidified its reputation as a dominant force today, delivering standout performances across a variety of sports.

Siaya’s performance was clinical, with wins spanning from the courts to the pitches:
Handball:The men’s team secured a double victory, dismantling hosts Laikipia (35-22) and Makueni (20-11). The ladies followed suit, defeating Laikipia with a convincing 20-11 scoreline.
Basketball:The 5x5 ladies’ team delivered a masterclass, crushing Laikipia 59-16. In the 3x3 category, both the ladies and men triumphed over West Pokot with scores of 19-15 and 21-14, respectively.

Volleyball:It was a clean sweep for both gender teams, as they dominated Meru, Narok, and Nyandarua with straight 3-0 set victories.
Soccer:Despite a valiant effort, the ladies’ soccer team narrowly missed out, falling 2-1 to Laikipia.

Speaking from Ndururumo Comprehensive School, the Director of Sports and Arts, Dr. San Mark Okoth, credited this resurgence to the "NYALORE" administration. He highlighted that under the leadership and goodwill of Governor James Orengo, Siaya has transformed from a team that struggled against perceived underdogs into a formidable force.
"I foresee our youth bringing home baskets full of medals, trophies, and prize money in the hundreds of thousands. Siaya, be ready to receive them," Dr. Okoth told the press.

With the momentum firmly on their side, the Siaya team looks set to make this one of their most successful outings in the history of the KYISA games.
