BONDO RESIDENTS GIVE A NOD TO THE PROPOSED ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY INPATIENT COMPLEX PROJECT

The County Government of Siaya received Ksh. 106 million for the County Investment project through the Second Kenya Devolution Support Program (KDSP II). These funds will be channeled towards putting up the proposed Accident and Emergency Unit at the Bondo Sub County Hospital if the State Department for Devolution through the National Project Coordinating Unit approves that proposal.
As a requirement from the world bank, the county has to undertake public participation, social & environmental screening, feasibility study before forwarding the proposed project for consideration and approval.
The 150 bed capacity complex comprises of surgical ward, medical ward, paediatric ward, orthopaedic unit, isolation unit, pharmacy and recovery room on the ground floor while the first and second floors are for the female, children wards and male ward, eye clinic respectively.
The proposed project when executed and operationalized will decongest and improve quality of services in the facility.
During a public participation for the proposed project, the residents of Bondo through various representatives gave it a nod and lauded the County leadership for considering the facility with such a life impacting intervention.
The project identification was informed by it featuring in both the Annual Development plan (ADP) and the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP 2023-2027)
The County had initially proposed a mother baby complex at the proposed Siaya County Level 5 Hospital as its investment project, but due to constrained resource envelope the Bondo Accident and Emergency Unit will benefit.
