The ongoing public participation on Siaya County Fiscal Strategy Paper took place at Nango Social Hall in Central Sakwa Ward, Bondo Sub-County. The event brought together ward administrators, county officials, and residents from the Uyawi, Nyang’oma, and Ndeda Oyamo sub-locations. The forum was led by Central Sakwa Ward Administrator Mr. Willis Ang'awa, Mr. Benard Ogeta (team leader), Ms. Celestine Awuor (Administrator), and Ms. Christine Otero (Planning Officer). Mr. Abel provided sign language interpretation throughout the session.
Residents actively shared their views on projects that needed to be maintained, changed, or replaced, while also reviewing the status of ongoing and completed initiatives. Several key developments were acknowledged, including the completion of road murraming and culvert works in some areas.
Other notable projects mentioned included the Got Kopolo Water Project (funded by the World Bank), the construction of an Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre at Uyawi (then under procurement), and the ongoing youth driving licence training programme.
The public participation forum in Central Sakwa Ward exemplified the essence of a people-led and people-driven County Fiscal Strategy Paper (CFSP) process. Such inclusive, bottom-up approaches, as enshrined in Kenya's Constitution and the Public Finance Management Act, strengthen democratic governance, build trust between citizens and leaders, and ultimately deliver more equitable, sustainable, and impactful outcomes for all residents of Siaya County.
