NYALORE ADMINISTRATION HOSTS WAREHOUSE RECEIPT SYSTEM COUNCIL

The County Government of Siaya led by the County Secretary Mr Joseph Ogutu today received officials from the Warehousing Receipt Systems Council ( WRSC) led by its Acting CEO, Madam Lucy Komen for a courtesy call. The aim of the meeting was for partnership to develop warehouses for agricultural produce in Siaya, promote value chain systems in the County, minimize post harvest losses, expand harvest access for local produce, stabilize commodity prices.

Warehousing Receipt is a process where owners of commodities, deposit them in certified warehouse and are issued with documents known as warehouse receipts as proof of ownership. The receipts maybe negotiable or non negotiable. There are several types of Warehousing such as Public Warehousing, Private Warehousing, Bonded, Climate controlled Smart and consolidated.

Present during the meeting from the Nyalore administration's side were, County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, Livestock Food Security and Blue Economy Mr. Sylvester K'Okoth, his Trade, Enterprise, Cooperatives and Industrialization counterpart, Mrs. Grace Agola. Others were partners from Strategic Partnerships, Kenya National Farms Federation and House of procurement.
