Misiani Women Group from South East Alego Ward was also named the best among eight participating Market-Oriented Farmer Groups, highlighting the group’s progress in market-focused livestock enterprise development.
Meanwhile, Riwa Self Help Group from Bondo emerged as runners-up in the innovation category, showcasing a locally assembled beehive designed to provide an affordable option for local farmers. The innovation demonstrated the potential of locally developed solutions in supporting sustainable apiculture and improving access to appropriate technologies.
The fair, held under the Kenya Livestock Commercialization Project (KeLCoP), provided a platform for peer learning, knowledge exchange, networking and showcasing innovations among participating counties.
Implemented through the Siaya County Department of Agriculture, Food Security, Livestock & Blue Economy, KeLCoP seeks to improve incomes among poor livestock households, particularly women and youth, through sustainable and environmentally friendly livestock value chains.
