The Employment and Labour Relations Court sitting in Kisumu has today 12th November, 2025 issued an interim order of injunction restraining nurses and midwives employed by the County Government of Siaya from continuing to participate in the strike which commenced on 17th September, 2025. The order was issued in the presence of counsel for the county government, counsel for the Kenya National Union of Nurses as well as the officials of the union. In view of this development, and in compliance with the order of the court, we direct as follows;
- THAT all nurses and midwives who were participating in the strike which commenced on 17th September, 2025, resume duty in their respective work stations immediately and in any event, not later than Thursday 13th November, 2025 at 8:00am
- THAT no nurse or midwife who participated in the strike which commenced on 17th September, 2025 shall be punished and, or victimized in any way for their participation in the strike.
- THAT the County Executive Committee Member in charge of health to take all measures necessary to ensure that a roll call of nurses and, or midwives who have resumed duty in compliance with the order of Court is taken on a daily basis.
- THAT any nurse or midwife who does not resume work immediately in compliance with the orders of court shall have their salaries and, or allowances withheld within the framework provided by law.
