The Department of Trade, Enterprise, Industrialization and Cooperatives, led by incoming County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Mrs. Christine Jennifer Akinyi Oyuu and outgoing CECM Mrs. Grace Agola, officially marked a leadership transition during a handover ceremony held at the county offices.
This handover follows recent changes effected by Governor James Orengo following the expiry of the terms of service for a number of County Executive Committee Members in his administration. The transitions are in accordance with the Constitution of Kenya, which provides for the appointment and tenure of CECMs to promote accountability, good governance, and efficient service delivery at the county level.
In her remarks, Mrs. Agola described change as a constant in leadership and emphasized the importance of embracing it positively. She expressed gratitude to the county leadership, particularly Governor James Orengo, for ensuring the department has competent directors who will support the incoming team. She also urged staff members to extend full support to the new administration.
Speaking during the ceremony, Mrs. Oyuu who previously served as the County Women Coordinator acknowledged the work done by her predecessor and reminded staff that leadership is about service and teamwork. She called for unity, responsibility, proper time management, and prudent use of resources to enhance service delivery and help achieve the goals of the Nyalore Manifesto.Mrs. Agola and her successor, Mrs. Oyuu, officially signed the handover documents, symbolizing the formal transfer of authority and leadership within the department.
Also present at the ceremony were CECMs Hon. Eng. Erick Odawa (Roads, Public Works, Energy and Transport) and Dr. Nicholas Kut Ochogo (Tourism, Culture, Sports and Arts), directors from various directorates, departmental officers, and other county staff. The ceremony demonstrated Nyalore administration’s continued commitment to strengthening trade, enterprise, and industrialization through effective leadership and improved service delivery for the people of Siaya.
