Siaya County Assembly Speaker George Okode Advocates for SITICO on KBC Radio

Siaya County Assembly Speaker George Okode appeared on KBC Radio,urging participants to seize the opportunities at the Siaya International Trade and Investment Conference (SITICO). The event kicks off at the Kenya Medical Training Centre, where attendees can network with industry players to boost the Siaya economy.

The Speaker encouraged investors and industry leaders to explore strategic opportunities in Siaya’s key sectors, including the blue economy. This encompasses fishing, fish landing sites, and cooling plants along beaches such as Usenge Beach, Luanda Kotieno, Wich Lum, and Asembo Bay.

He also highlighted mining and extraction activities in areas like Barding, Kogelo, Rarieda, parts of Bondo, and East Gem Ramula.
Siaya boasts a rich agricultural value chain, featuring avocado and coffee production in Ugenya; a fruit processing plant in Ramba; rice farming in Alego Usonga Siriwo; cotton in parts of Rarieda bordering Bondo at Madiany; and sunflower processing in Ugenya West Aboke, among others.

He commended Governor James Orengo’s Nyalore Administration for its commitment to promoting good governance for the benefit of Siaya residents and beyond.
Okode vowed to elevate Governor Orengo’s county development agenda, focusing on agriculture, rural road expansion, water provision in primary and secondary schools and for rural communities, healthcare infrastructure to reduce disease burdens, sports facilities, and other County Integrated Development Plans aligned with the Nyalore administration.

The Siaya International Trade and Investment Conference officially begins this week on Wednesday, with delegates and industry players convening. President William Ruto is expected to deliver an official address on Thursday, joined by other dignitaries. ODM leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will officially close the event on Friday.
