The County Government of Siaya's Department of Agriculture, Livestock , Food Security and Blue Economy today hosted the Youth in Agribusiness Trade Fair at Siaya National Polytechnic under the theme, "Advancing Youth in Multilateral Cooperation through Technology and Partnerships."
The event brought together young agripreneurs, development partners, financial institutions, and industry stakeholders, providing a valuable platform for learning, networking, and exploring collaborative opportunities aimed at transforming the agricultural sector through youth-led innovation.
A major highlight of the trade fair was the business pitching sessions, where outstanding young innovators showcased creative agribusiness solutions and technologies. The top performers were recognised and awarded for developing some of the most innovative ideas and technologies, underscoring the immense potential of young people to drive agricultural transformation, create employment, and contribute to economic growth.
As part of its commitment to nurturing the next generation of agripreneurs, the County Government continues to intensify the rollout of its Business Development Model, an initiative designed to transition young people from traditional subsistence farming to commercially oriented, profitable, and sustainable agribusiness enterprises.
The event was Graced by the County Executive Committee Member ( CECM) for Agriculture, Livestock, Food Security and Blue Economy Hon. Willis Ochieng, Sarah Mango, Policy Advisor with the GIZ AgriJobs for Youth Project, Hon. Fredrick Opanga, the County Youth Coordinator and a host of other leaders.
The Nyalore administration extends its sincere appreciation to all partners and stakeholders whose support contributed to the success of the trade fair, including GIZ Agri Jobs for Youth, Somo Africa, Rural Kenya Financial Inclusion Facility (RK FINFA) Project, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), Siaya County Youth Network, Cereal Growers Association, YWCA, Practical Action, and National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP). Their continued partnership remains instrumental in empowering young people and advancing a vibrant, inclusive, and commercially driven agricultural sector.
