Pursuant to Articles 1, 10(2), 43(1)(b) & (d), 232(1) (d) & (f), and the Fourth Schedule Part 2 (14) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, Section 87 of County Government Act, 2012, the County Government of Siaya hereby invite members of the public and all stakeholders to participate and give their views on the draft Siaya County Water Policy, 2023.
As informed by the National Water Services Strategy, 2020–2025 which provides a framework for the implementation of government policies with respect to water supply, sewerage and basic sanitation in rural and urban areas; and the National Water Master Plan (NWMP) 2030 (established in 2014) which in line with the National Water Policy, 2021 and Vision 2030, provides a framework for the management, development, and regulation of water resources, water services, and sewerage services, the Department of Water, Irrigation, Environment, Climate Change & Natural Resources is in the process of formulating the Siaya County Water Policy, 2023
In this regard, the County Government of Siaya will be holding sub-county-based citizen participation fora to get public views to inform the preparation of the policy on Friday 22nd March 2024 at the venues and time as tabulated below:
