Governor James Orengo joined fellow leaders, led by His Excellency President Dr. William Ruto, for the official handover and consecration of the Raila Odinga Mausoleum.
The mausoleum, constructed in a record 90 days, serves as a permanent resting place and memorial dedicated to honouring the life, legacy and contributions of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga.
In remembering the late Odinga as an institution, Governor Orengo reiterated the tribute he delivered upon Raila’s passing, describing him as arguably the greatest Kenyan to have ever lived. He recalled their shared journey in public life spanning more than 50 years and paid special tribute to Raila’s spouse, Canon Dr. Ida Odinga, for holding the family together during the difficult years of Raila’s detention. The Governor further described Raila’s life as one marked by exceptional courage.
Governor Orengo also reiterated the urgent need to fully implement the recommendations of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) and the 10-Point Agenda.
He took the opportunity to invite all Kenyans to the first anniversary celebrations of Raila Odinga’s life, scheduled for 15th October 2026 at Migwena Sports Centre in South Sakwa Ward.
The handover and consecration ceremony was attended by several Governors, Cabinet Secretaries, Senators, Members of Parliament, Members of the County Assembly, members of the Odinga family and other distinguished guests.
