H.E Governor James Orengo, accompanied by his Deputy CPA William Oduol today flagged off 7 tractors valued at 31 Million to assist over 184,000 households in Siaya County.
This is an addition to the existing 10 tractors that had so far been repaired by the same Government and are performing land preparation activities at a subsidized rate of Kshs.2,000 per acre within the County.
On his part, CPA William Oduol indicated that they are fastening their pace towards achieving the targeted acreage of 3,000 in 2022/23 and with at least 2 tractors per ward by 2024/25, the County will be able to achieve 7,500 acres per season.
CECM in charge of Agriculture, Food, Irrigation, Livestock & Fisheries, Mr. K’Okoth Sylvestre explained that the program aims at expanding land available for agricultural production, replacing previously used laborious land preparation methods with a more efficient mechanized approach and equally raise awareness towards farm mechanization.
