Siaya Governor James Orengo earlier today met 397 Community Health Volunteers commonly referred to as 'Nyamrerwa' from Rarieda Sub County at Ruma in West Uyoma.The Governor appreciated the various roles played by the volunteers in provision of primary healthcare within the County and acknowledged their support in realization of Universal Health Care.Governor Orengo speaking during the consultative meeting in West Uyoma confirmed that his Government will look into ways of improving working conditions for the Volunteers through provision of kits, working tools and equally prioritizing increment in their remuneration by pushing an amendment through the Assembly to make them Community Health Practitioners and not volunteers as is currently the case.
