County Government of Siaya Conducts Comprehensive Project Field Verification to Strengthen Public Investment Management

By Elijah Obwolo

Officials of the County Government of Siaya have undertaken a rigorous project field verification exercise as part of the county’s project stock-taking covering the financial years 2013/2014 to 2024/2025.

The exercise fulfills a key minimum condition under the Kenya Devolution Support Programme (KDSP) II Level II grant.

During the field verification, teams prioritised critical data, including the physical location of each project, accurate GPS coordinates, confirmation of physical existence, current implementation progress, the actual scope of work completed, and photographic evidence.

Once captured and submitted, the information is forwarded to departmental verifiers. These officers review, edit, and complete the records by adding missing details such as exact budget expenditure, contract sums, payment status, and procurement and contract reference numbers.

The primary purpose of the project stock-take is to update and strengthen the County Public Investment Management (PIM) system, ensuring accurate, up-to-date records of all public investments.

This comprehensive verification exercise is vital for promoting transparency, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making in the management of public resources.

By maintaining a reliable and current inventory of projects, the County Government of Siaya enhances efficient resource allocation, improves service delivery to residents, and positions itself to attract and effectively utilise development funding for sustainable growth and improved livelihoods across the county.
