The Department of Agriculture, Irrigation, Food, Livestock and Fisheries drives the county’s agenda for food security, agricultural productivity, and sustainable livelihoods. It plays a central role in improving crop production, promoting agribusiness, and enhancing resilience through climate-smart agricultural practices. The department is responsible for implementing programs that support farmers with extension services, access to inputs, value addition, and market linkages. It also oversees irrigation development to ensure reliable water supply for crop and livestock production. In addition, the department manages livestock development, veterinary services, and fisheries to improve animal health, enhance productivity, and promote fish farming as a key source of income and nutrition.
