East Africa Regional Early Childhood Conference in Dar es Salaam

Siaya County First Lady mama Betty Orengo led a delegation that represented Siaya in the East Africa Regional Early Childhood Conference in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Conference that started on 11th is set to end on 15th of March. She is accompanied by Former First Lady Rosella Rasanga, CECM Governance CS Agunda Ochanda and CECM Education Dr.Otumba Edgar.Also present at the conference are selected Directors, Focal persons and partners from Siaya County.
As the Patron of the programme, The First Lady did a presentation on Children in Crisis focusing on Teen pregnancy in Siaya County. The other County representatives had different papers to present on the Nurturing care for ECD-Smart Start Siaya model. Dr. Janette Karimi,Director of Division For Maternal Child Health presentation focused on the Smart Start Siaya model implementation as the best NCfECD model that should be emulated in Kenya. She acknowledged the roles played by the Multi Sectoral Team and County Led approach in ensuring ownership and sustainability. The program has so far had different guests from Nairobi,Busia,Turkana and Mozambique coming to Siaya for benchmarking. Smart Start Siaya program has so far been mentioned as the best model to be implemented on Nurturing Care for Early Childhood Education.
