Siaya County received an award during the 7th Maisha Conference for being the best by achieving 4.3% a target of less than 5% in 2022 on HIV Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission. The Conference which took place at Pride Inn Paradise Resort saw the Permanent Secretary State Department for Medical Services Mr.Harry Kimitai hand over the award to Siaya Health Director Kennedy Orwenjo noting that Siaya scored above average as this was the first time such percentages were achieved in Kenya.Prevention of Mother to Child transmission is a program that sees expectant Mothers who are HIV positive give birth to children who are HIV negative through following the procedures as guided by MOH experts.
