Governor James Orengo officially commissioned the 0.517 km road, located in Ugunja Market within Ugunja Municipality. This ring road begins at the Ugunja-Ukwala Road, approximately 100 meters from its junction with the Kisumu-Busia Highway. It follows an anti-clockwise direction around Ugunja Market and reconnects at its starting point.
This project, which includes road and drainage works, has significantly benefited the residents by improving accessibility to the market area, attracting new traders and investors, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of Ugunja Town, and reducing the high incidence of road accidents that were common when the road was in a muddy state.
The newly constructed road is expected to drive the growth of Ugunja Municipality by boosting trade and fostering rapid economic development. Governor Orengo also pledged further improvements, including the construction of modern markets in Ugunja and Sigomere, the establishment of Ugunja Bus Park, the construction of Ugunja Sub-County Headquarters, and the tarmacking of Nyasanda-Ambira and Savannah roads.
During his visit, the Governor was accompanied by several county officials, including County Secretary Mr. Joseph Ogutu; CECM for Governance, Administration, and ICT, Mr. Agunda Ochanda; Youth Coordinator in the Office of the Governor, Hon. Frederick Opang’a; Ugunja Municipality Manager, Mr. Frederick Opondo; Deputy Speaker and MCA for West Ugenya Ward, Hon. Andericus Oduor Ododngo, and the host MCA, Hon. Otieno Edwin Martin, among others.
