The National Financing Locally-Led Climate Change Actions (FLLoCA) office has organized a one-week capacity-building workshop for the County Directors of Communications to strengthen FLLoCA communication campaigns and strategies.
The program that began on Monday, 28th April, in Machakos County targets directors of communication and communication champions attached to the department of climate change across the 47 counties.
The National Project Coordinator, Mr. Abraham Barsosio, while addressing the caucus, expressed his commitment to ensuring the Directors of Communication were onboarded in every FLLoCA activity to ensure strengthened visibility.
On his part, Siaya County Director of Public Communication Mr. Chrispine Omondi expressed satisfaction with the level of information dissemination at the county government of Siaya while committing to do much more of an awareness campaign to reach the local community. He added that the ongoing technical support and capacity-building program aims at ensuring CCIS grants and implementation of the PCRA process are adequately publicized.
“We have had little knowledge of the program, and the training has enhanced our understanding," said Mr. Omondi.
FLLoCA's Head of Communication, Madam Tumpeyo Bwain, also assured the caucus of her commitment to include a communication budget in this financial year's work plan to empower communication directors in executing their communication functions.
She further asked the communication experts to embark on the documentation of impactful projects at the village level.
The caucus was also tasked with the obligation to strategize on how to impact the lives of PWDs, particularly the visually impaired.
To date, in Phase 1 of the program, there are 2245 investments that are being implemented across the country.
The County Government of Siaya benefitted from the Ksh 7.3 billion disbursed in the FY 2023/2024, with Ksh 168 million released to facilitate 22 projects in the 18 wards.
