Governor Orengo Assures Swift Implementation of Revenue Automation to Maximize Own Source Revenue

Public Accounts Committee Chaired by Homabay Senator Hon.Moses Kajwang had a one on one session with Siaya Governor James Orengo at Bunge House to internalize the Auditor General Reports for Financial Years 2020/2021, 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 and also review reports from the Revenue Fund.

 

The Committee during it's submission asked Director Revenue to fast-truck the automation of revenue collection to boost Revenue collection in Siaya County. The Governor in his remarks assured the sitting of the systems progress and confirmed it will officially be deployed in the next 14 days. Orengo also assured the committee that his administration has been keen to embrace transparency, accountability and sound Governance.

The Ouko Taskforce report noted that Siaya County is capable of generating a minimum of KSh. 1.7 billion in revenue per year. A clear indication of the county’s revenue generation structures.

 

The Siaya County Assembly Public Accounts Committee has been observed to have embraced its work with lots of dedication in a bid to tackle audit concerns. The Committee pointed out that Siaya assembly as among the few that have done well in reviewing and responding to audit reports.

 

This commendable level of oversight is as a result of the assembly commitment in discharging duties and ensuring that funds expenditure within the assembly are fiscally prudent. Project oversight by the committee is essential in ensuring that the County Government operates under recommended standards thus encouraging the public to have confidence in the government.
