A newly built community ECDE centre, Siala Kaduol, brings hope to the people of South Gem Ward. Commissioned on January 13, 2025, through the joint efforts of Community Based Organizations and the County Government of Siaya, this school features three fully equipped modern classrooms with a capacity for 97 students.
Each classroom has a dedicated teacher who supports the educational journey of the learners. Learning is made easier and more engaging for students with modern whiteboards installed in every classroom. The school playground enhances this experience with a variety of fun activities, including six-seater swings, sand pools, and a merry-go-round, providing children with ample opportunities to play and explore. Additionally, the school ensures that children receive well-prepared meals in a clean and safe environment, featuring fortified uji and buttered bread.
Previously, parents had to send their children to schools located 2 kilometers away for education. Now, with Siala Kaduol ECDE in close proximity, these families can rest assured that their children are learning in a flourishing environment. This school exemplifies what a community can achieve when it collaborates to build a brighter future for its children, one step at a time.
Building on such transformative initiatives by the County Government of Siaya and the community, Governor James Orengo is set to launch ECDE School Feeding Program on January 27, 2025, targeting over 45,000 learners across more than 700 public ECDE centers. In addition, the Nyalore Administration has employed over 600 ECDE teachers on a Permanent and Pensionable basis. These efforts are part of Governor Orengo's 9-Point Agenda, which focuses on improving access to quality education and promoting child welfare through innovative and sustainable programs. This move reaffirms the county's commitment to fostering an enabling environment for learning and the holistic growth of young learners.
