Siaya County Governor James Orengo today presided over the official launch of Bursary Disbursement for the Financial Year 2023-2024.The event that kicked off in Lundha,North Gem Ward will see 31,162 students in Secondary and Tertiary Institutions benefit from the Ksh.110Million Bursary allocation.Out of the amount Ksh.86 Million has been allocated for Continuing students while Ksh.24 Million reserved for Form one students.The increased allocation on educational Bursaries will play a key role in ensuring continuity and completion of education by needy students. According to the Governor the additional funding that will be received from key stakeholders will supplement the government’s efforts to reduce illiteracy by increasing access to education and improving transition rates.
