Siaya scrabble team won the 11th edition of KICOSCA competition that attracted 47 men and 30 women. The three-day championship commenced on Tuesday and culminated on Wednesday, during which the Siaya team, comprising both men and women, emerged victorious and claimed the golden title.
Team Siaya was in excellent form to take home the glittering trophy. Willis Ang'awa, the most outstanding player in the men's category, spurred the triumphant side, winning with 11 points and losing 4 games.
“This was the toughest tournament I have ever played. In the previous Meru competition, we were declared second best but this year we have been beaten by a colleague from Busia (runners up) and the overall winner was the defending champion, Patrick Miriti.

“I thank team Siaya for the collective effort and we ought to work harder for the subsequent tournaments,” said Angawa, adding that George Okello was the fourth-best player with a 10 and a half win. “We attribute the victory to Julius Odhiambo, who was the most improved player. He was among the top ten.
Previous year, Busia was a threat to Siaya, but this time round, we have surpassed them and in the future will have the Senior Angawa (John Angawa) and Bob Awino joining the team.
