Siaya County Governor James Orengo today hosted The Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga who presided over the ground breaking ceremony of Yala and Ugunja town ring roads to bitumen standards. The Rt.Hon also officiated the groundbreaking for the construction of a Maternity Theatre Complex at Yala Sub County Hospital.The maternity wing will enhance the quality of maternal newborn and child health Services at the hospital and ensure women and their newborns remain healthy before, during, and after childbirth.
Yala and Ugunja towns ring roads upgrade forms part of the Nyalore Administration’s bold strategic urbanization agenda of developing Siaya urban towns that are inclusive and friendly for all to spur the County’s sustainable socioeconomic growth through strategic investments, increased productivity and innovation.
The urban infrastructural upgrades entails the construction of asphalt concrete wearing course; the 6-meter-wide carriageway with shoulders of 1 meter either side and walkway, construction of standard pipe culverts and installation of road furniture. The projects also entail the development of drainage systems and soil erosion protection works that will provide for the control of the storm waters.
