The County Government of Siaya under the department of Health has partnered with Rescue Connect Limited to implement modalities aimed at lowering Maternal Mortality Rate in Siaya County. The Organization, a key player in delivering rapid, life saving care by use of Technology for real time dispatch of ambulances is currently doing a pilot phase in Siaya County that has seen 222 mothers evacuated and saved aimed at ensuring Maternal Mortality that is currently at 424 per 100,000 goes lower than the figure.
In a briefing that was attended by Governor James Orengo,the representative from Rescue Connect Ms.Vicky Kaigai assured the County Government of their commitment in ensuring they offer support in working towards lowering the Maternal Mortality in Siaya County.
According to Ms.Kaigai they picked on Siaya because of the Administration's firm commitment in lowering maternal care. With expanded number of theatres in Siaya County, the latest being the Commissioning of Madiany Maternity with Ukwala Maternity soon to be commissioned they are looking at onboarding more ambulances to provide these vital services. They have equally installed trackers in 8 ambulances and issued every ambulance with a smart phone for use during referrals.
The Governor has called upon Siaya residents to embrace the use of this technology confirming it will benefit the County by enhancing emergency medical services with faster response times and provide free services to mothers and newborns. He assured the Department of Health team led by CECM Health Dr. Martin Konyango of his support in ensuring the County acquires an Emergency code for the County as the County currently uses the Rescue Connect Limited Emergency code 0800721722.
