Siaya County Governor today launched the Governor's Football Cup tournament at Sega Township Primary School Ugenya Sub County. The much awaited launch of the tournament brought together youths from various wards within Ugenya Sub County.The tournament has been organized with the aim of identifying talented youths within the County and have them incorporated as players in regional and national teams across the country like Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars.
During the colorful launch, Governor Orengo confirmed that the tournament will be carried out in all the wards of Siaya County to be able to give a chance to all the youths within Siaya County to showcase their talents. Identified champions from each Sub- County will then proceed to the County finals which will be held at the Migwena Sports and Cultural Grounds on the 1st of January 2024.
Siaya County prides itself as the home of some of the most renowned football champions such as Omondi Korea, Onyango Fundi, Zedekiah Otieno, Jerry Onyango, James Siang'a among others.
